Orange County DUI : Newport police to hold checkpoint

The Daily Pilot reported on Sept 2nd, 2009 that Orange County DUI drivers should beware: Newport Beach police will conduct an Orange County DUI checkpoint Friday night on Newport Boulevard.
From 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. Friday, officers will be stationed at northbound Newport Boulevard at Finley Avenue.
Police said they chose the location because there are so many restaurants and bars nearby. Drivers who pass through the checkpoint will be given an informative brochure on driving under the influence and Orange County DUI . While the checkpoints can lead to arrests, they're generally meant to serve as a deterrent to potential drunk drivers and act as a reminder to the public that police are out there looking for impaired motorists and will arrest you for Orange County DU
